Task 8 - Analysising music video's G-Eazy 'you got me'
G- Eazy's music video 'you got me' contains many conventions of a hip hop genre music video as within it, it has women with sexual connotations, alcohol and many references to drugs also. The music video's lyrics often dont match up with the scene in the actual video. However here and there they do. There are many close ups and mid shots within this music video and each one shows a girl stripping or pole dancing which contains the connotations of what G-Eazy's lifestyle may be like in reality. The video has no real narrative at all. Throughout the video G-Eazy portrays his views whilst he is on drugs and things like that and this is shown as the video has many effects on it that make it feel almost as if he is on drugs such as the dazed and spinning aspect. A lots of the camera shots are featured outside of a gas station this is just a location where he raps. He also references his gang throughout and within the music video it has his gang shown behind him. Theres many bright lights within the strip club which add to the atmosphere of being there as well as this within in it, it features many close up shots of various amounts of money this represents the image he is trying to portray. The image of fame and wealth with the aspect of stardom. The whole video overall represents his lifestyle in which he has money, women and drugs. The purpose of this music video is to entertain the audience and keep them watching the video as well as giving an insight into his life. The overall reason for this music video is to promote this song and promote his upcoming album. I believe G-Eazy has every aspect of Richard Dyers stardom theory as he has youthfulness, talent, sex appeal, anger, creativity and material goods within his music video. G-Eazy is simultaneously ordinary and extraordinary as he connects with his target audience on many levels through the drugs, sex, money or the alcohol as well as being talented and unique with his lyrics and music video.
Task 6 - Magazine ad analysis
For this magazine advert I analysed Kanye West's the college dropout. This ad is on pink background surrounded by what looks like hand drawn text which has connotations that could be its hand drawn to show that its about college as within college you would use pens and pencils alot. The colour theme for the text is yellow and brown, and some of this is reverse colour block. This is very simplistic as the only things of any real importance is Kanye West's name and the title of the album too. At the bottom of the magazine ad there is label and icon which shows that this album contains explict language this is there to show his audience that possibly the tracks arent meant for a younger audience.

Task 6 - Magazine ad analysis
The second magazine advert I have analysised is Kanye West's 'Yeezus' album in which he went very straight forward with this as it simply says the date of the release which is June 18th and then it also says Kanye West's name in big bold letters to emphasise his presence and his stature within the music industry. The image within the centre of the ad simply is just a picture of what the Cd looks like, which is a plain disc and on top of that disc is red tape and on it, it simply says 'Yeezus' which is the name of the album. I believe Kanye West choose this simplicity on purpose as simply his name acts as a brand and sells itself which is the main target.
Task 6 - Magazine ad analysis
For this cover we see Drake promoting his latest album being 'Take Care' and for this he is in this magazine ad. On it the text shows the main artists that are being featured within itself there names help sell this album even more due to there vast amounts of fans and status and popularity. Drake's name is biggest as he is the main artist and also the icon that gathers the main audience in. The image features Drake sitting down in a atmosphreric location of what seems to be a dinning room with all sorts of gold cuttlery and prestigeous paintings which is similar to jesus's last summer which represents the god element in him, which is sometimes how he describes himself. Drake is weaing jewellery around his neck this shows his success and fame as well as that he likes to show off too. Drake doesn't have a direct address as he looks as if he is thinking about something deep just like most of his songs are as they are about his relationships and hard life.
Magazine cover analysis
This is a magazine cover for Big Sean and Jhene Aiko's duel album Twenty 88 which was released 1st of April 2016. On the cover you see Big sean holding Jhene Aiko and this represents there relationship together that they are in love and have collaborated on this album as they both have the best chemistry together. Both of these singers have direct address to the audience focusing there eyes at the camera. Both of these celebrities have there own unique style of clothing and expensive tastes. These expensive tastes can include Big Sean's jewellery which represents his success and fame. It shows his fame and wealth as well. Jhene Aiko's shoulder is showing as well as other parts of her which could be a very breif sex appeal within herself. This poster shows all the readers and the audience that they are together and a part. This is very simple magazine cover without masses of text as it just includes a main iconic image. This greatly helps market both of these artists new album coming soon but at the same time both of these are very well known within there own genre so they dont need as much marketing as other artists because their name markets themselves.

Stardom Theory
Richard Dyer has a stardom theory in which he says a 'star' refers to a set of meanings constructed around performers. Musical stardom is formed around youthfulness, originality, talent, sexual appeal, anger, creativity, sex, goods and material goods. These are all things that form the personality and the identity of the music labels 'star'. A star is an image that has been constructed. A star are commodities that aren't real at all. Stars depends on magazines, TV and social media to increase their status and popularity. Stars are made and produced to be attractive to a select target audience. A star is based upon Richard Dyer's two paradox's simultaneously ordinary and extraordinary this means a star needs to be able to connect with their target audience in many ways but at the same time to still be very unique. The second paradox is simultaneously present and absent, which means they consistently need to be in the line light and fit in with current trends but at the same time they will be absent as you are unable to connect with them personally.
Task 7 - Prelim photography task
For this prelim task I was able to use a Nikon camera to help produce the best photography pictures, and for this specific task I had to contrast the light and the dark as the title was light vs dark. This task helped me gage how easy and hard it is to work the camera's.I took these photo's within a group of two,Millie and myself.
For the first image it shows the light and dark through the use of shadows. Showing off the light within the road and white van then showing the darkness through the shadows acting as opposites. This image is zoomed out and has a random composition as there is alot going on within the image. The apperature was very low as i wanted the main focus to be directly on the colours shown rather then whats actually happening in the picture.
The second image shows a close up of a flower and within the background there partial shadowing effects on the bush as well as that the foreground has a dark shadow on the outline of the flower which is the focal point. This zoomed in camera angle shows exactly what i wanted it to is it gives the audience a closer effect of light vs dark in one small but densely deatailed image.
For the third image it is just a generic image of a bush with iconic looking flowers on it it has a horizontal line from the sun on the central composition where the flowers become opposite colour of both black and white. The photo has no focal point but however it perfectly reflects the topic title of light vs dark.
For the final image I edited this to amplify the light vs dark topic. So for this I completely changed the theme to black and white to add much more depth then after that I added a light blur to the whole background as i wanted the main focus to be completely on one focal point of the flower head. Within the focal point I added a layer in which I changed a whole part of it to a dark black colour then after that I went on the original image and made the most inner part extremely dark to emphasis the light and the dark and I believe this work really well.
Ideologies of creativity
Keith Negus has produced two theories of creativity. The organic ideology of creativity suggests the image of how a normal person is born with talent but then signs to a music label and is then nurtured to grow their strengths and help them gradually form them into a star, through naturalistic approaches. The image of the artist is then enhanced by the music company or label to help sell all merchandise, albums and singles as well as tours, which in turns produces a vast amount of profit for them. This appears to be long term plan put in place by the music company. A perfect example of this would be Michael Jackson, as he had raw talent and became as star as a young child who then gradually grew through the music label.
Keith Negus's second ideology is synthetic creativity which suggests people with talent are then signed on to a music label but they lack the aspects and the image that the music company want to create. So then the music company will change and mould their talent into the proper image they are trying to produce this could mean creating a false identity and personality. Music companies often give there moulded music talents a short time to show how successful they are and can be and if they are unsuccesful then they become terminated or the combination gets changed to form a better image. The profits that become generated by these music companies tend to be short strategy's for music companies as typically these synthetic groups and talents dont last very long. A great example of this would be One Direction as they were several talents moulded together to be a desired group aimed at a certain target market.

Boom video research
Boom was a competition set up by MTV and Adobe and it was to get a younger audience to be creative based upon what they have been influenced by. There is many things needed to produce a good music video. The first thing is a good idea and camera to create a outstanding video and an idea that is very different to everyone elses. Other qualities that are needed are to impliment a story with a begining, middle and end as well as it being funny, sexy and entertaining. Another key thing to have is a location that is really unique, this is part of the preparation. One more part of prepartion is to have logged all of your shots before you film. Finally you need to make sure that the band can preform well and correctly as well this you need to have very strong visuals to engage the audience and finally the post production part to have good strong editing skills ready to apply alsorts of interesting styles to your video.
The purpose of a music video
There is many purposes of a music video and these include various things such as, advertising a variety of products for other businesses and companies through product placement. Another purpose could be to create and then tell a story that captures a audience, withiun this story it should contain a start, middle and end. One purpose should be to entertain the audience and make sure they want to keep watching. One purpose when telling a story is that it can viewed in many ways by each and every individual, therefore telling a different story, that engages the audience. The main purpose is to primarily sell the band and promote the bands status and style, to create a long lasting trend. A final purpose and possibly the best would be to make money and sell the track at hand, to get their audience to buy the single then the album or to buy there music video to download and watch much more.
Task 4 - Evaluation
To start of with our group had a few hiccups as members of the group had other obligations to forfill which meant some parts couldn't always be completed straight away without them being there which gave us a few set backs. Fortunatley for our group we did manage to find enough time to meet and film ect which was a big positive. Our video had been completed to the best of our ability with the skills we posses at this current stage however in the future our skills will get better and this will give us a much more professionally made video as well as this we will have much more time too and this will really help. The hardest part was certainly the editing and lip sycning as we had to make each clip in time with the song we had chosen. For our next video however though this will drastically improve due to much more dedication, time and effort. Overall being invovled in this preliminary task it has heavily helped me gain the insight needed to produce a really good final piece music video as I now know what is needed e.g. In time lip syncing, good editing skills and really good reliable team too.
Task 4 - Editing
Editing appeared to be the most difficult task of all as it was hard and time consuming. Not only this but it was difficult getting all of our lip syncing shots to be in line with the soundtrack and original video. I believe that some shots were definatly out of sync but however I now know that this is something I need to drastically improve on for when I film my proper video. Most of editing was done by members of the group however I did participate as much as possible due to having other obligations to fill despite this the video did still go down quite well with different edit styles in such as quick cuts and slow motion. From this task I feel as if I have learned a lot about the editing software and how to produce the best work via this software. I am glad to have done this task as it will greatly help me with my very own music video project.
Task 4 - Filming
Initially the filming was difficult as it had been a long time since we had used any camera's or camera equipment. So from the start we had to get to grips using it all over again, but after a short period of time this was easy. During filming we had to do several takes of the similar scences because in some of them there was too much laughing as at times lip syncing appeared to be an awkward task. Despite this we grinded onwards and productively to collaborate together as a fuctioning group. This then proved to be a successful combination. This particular task has helped me gain key insight into how to film and what makes for a better video with different types of camera shots and different camera techniques like panning. Overall as a group we managed time well the most difficult part was lyncing as it was bvital we were on time. I believe we managed this.

Task 5 - Research into the genre that you want to work in
Hip hop is underground urban movement that started around the 1970s by african American people in
south bronx’s in new york. It gradually became popular outside of African American community in the late 1980’s. Then it became the most listened to music genre in the world by 2000’s. A lot of current popular hip hop artists include Drake, Kanye West, Travi$ Scott, The Weeknd, Future, Partynextdoor and various others. Previous hip hop artist include Ice Cube, Tupac, Eazy E, Snoop Dogg, Wu-‐Tang Clan and various others.
There is many conventions to the rap genre, as most music videos and song lyrics includes sex, relationships, drugs, love and partying. practically every music video and content include however some don't but that is rare. Hip Hop can be both slow and fast with a heavy beat that is in time with the lyrics. Typically the lyrics can be very explict depending on what the song is about.
